The Senate passed a bill yesterday that would replace references in state law to "mentally retarded" with "intellectually disabled."

Special Education Programs Funding Opportunity

A funded research grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Institute of Educational Sciences and Penn State University is seeking qualified applicants for 20 hour a week research assistantships for the academic year 2008-2009. The grant is designed to implement and assess expository writing skills of middle school students with Emotional Disabilities.

POAC-NoVA Verbal Behavior Instructors Academy (PVBIA)

The third session of PVBIA will begin in Fall 2008. Throughout the session, sponsored and junior therapists will be working with the family in the home for 139 hours over 21 weeks. POAC-NoVA sponsor families will pay these instructor trainees.
