New Library

The Kellar Special Education Collection, T/TAC Lending Resources, and Virginia Assistive Technology System have merged their resources to create the new Kellar Library. The Kellar Library is named in honor of Arthur and Elizabeth Kellar, longtime supporters of the mission of the Kellar Institute for Human disAbilities.

The new library consists of almost 4,000 items including books, software, videos, assessment materials, assistive technology devices, journals, kits, textbooks, and reference materials covering disabilities and special education related topics. In addition to materials that can be checked out, the library also offers reference assistance and access to databases.

Starting in 2008, the Library will house the source files for NIMAS textbooks and distribute textbooks in multiple specialized formats for Virginia K-12 students with print disabilities.

Anyone living in the Virginia Department of Education's Region 4 can check out Kellar Library materials. This includes teachers, school administrators, George Mason University students, faculty, and staff, and residents of Region 4.

The Kellar Library is open Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 4:30 PM. It is located within the Kellar Institute for Human disAbilities in Krug Hall on the George Mason University Fairfax campus.

If you would like to arrange an information session about the Kellar Library for your class, school, or organization contact the Librarian, Jackie Petersen, at jpetersk@gmu.edu
