Certificate - Visual Impairments PK-12 Licensure

This certificate is designed for students seeking initial teacher licensure in visual impairments PK-12 to be completed with 15 – 32 credits based on the number of equivalent courses completed prior to enrollment.

Students who already hold a teaching license in another field of special education may be able to waive some of the requirements.  Please contact Jancy Templeton (jtemple1@gmu.edu) for more information. 

Masters in Special Education with a focus in Visual Impairment and Blindness

This program is for individuals interested in a Masters degree in Special Education with a focus on Visual Impairments. The focus on VI is accomplished by using your electives to take course included in the VI Licensure program. The Masters degree does not include a license or endorsement to teach students with visual impairments.

Undergraduate Minor in Visual Impairment & Blindness

This program will be offered for undergraduate students – 15 credits * this option is only available at participating institutions that offer undergraduate education coursework.
